Jason Lee McKinney is an award-winning songwriter, college music professor, and a dynamic front man in the realm of Roots music. Pieces, the eighth studio album from Jason Lee McKinney Band, is set to release Feb. 21 on the Bonfire Recording label. The video for the title track is set to release right here, right now!
Recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Kevin Houston (Buddy Guy, Robert Plant, Lucero) at Jim Dickinson’s Zebra Ranch (North Mississippi Allstars), the album whips up McKinney’s own form of soulful American gumbo, finding room for roadhouse rock & roll, bluesy slide guitar, stomping grooves, countrified soul, and the swagger of McKinney’s voice.
The title track fully embodies the album’s concept. Co-written with McKinney’s son, Zion, “Pieces” is a tribute to new beginnings and forward momentum, set to a soundtrack of anthemic melodies, searing guitars, and gospel harmonies. “This song is the essence of the whole record,” McKinney says. “It bonds elements of the band’s sound together so thoroughly, it creates a new compound.”
DittyTV is pleased to host the world premiere of “Pieces” here, and then tune into the network on Wednesday night 11/10c to catch the DittyTV Debut of the video on The Curve.
