World Premiere Video: “Nothing Left But Scars” by Prinz Grizzley

July 27, 2020 by Ronnie Ditty

Blues, honky tonk, and melancholic country probably aren’t the first things people associate with the mountains of Austria, but that is exactly what the audience can expect when Chris Comper performs as Prinz Grizzley in a new album called To My Green Mountains Home. His video for the song “Nothing Left But Scars” is being premiered by DittyTV.

The song, says Comper, “is about the inner and outer scars love can do to us. But scars don’t stop us from searching for that eternal high love can bring to us. There’s always hope that things are different in every new approach we attempt to be close and to open up to somebody else. Our scars should be seen and exist as a reminder to not make the same mistakes again and again.”

As for the video, Comper says it was shot around the area where he lives. “We had three days on the set in very different locations throughout the state of Vorarlberg (Austria). I guess it really shows the beauty of the country I can call my home. I was really lucky to get all these pro actors for the video as they had some time available because all their other assignments sadly were cancelled because of COVID-19. The director Niklas (Hugo) is a 23 year old from the same village I am from, and I think it’s unbelievable how he was able to capture the sentiments of the song and put it into pictures. A young man with a lot of potential!”

Filming the video did have a bit of drama, though. “As we were shooting the scenes in the forest, out of the blue the police turned up,” Comper says. “At first we thought it’s because of the COVID rules and we had overstepped the allowed amount of people in one place but it turned out that someone called them thinking the forest was on fire! I guess we used the fog machine a little bit too much. It’s all for the pictures!”

Fortunately no forest was harmed in the making of this video, which we present to you now as a world premiere, and we hope you tune in to the network Wednesday night, July 29, at 11/10c for the DittyTV Debut on The Curve.
