Texas Hill is the new vocal trio of (left to right, above) Craig Wayne Boyd, Adam Wakefield, and Casey James. Boyd offers a voice full of gospel-tinged country smoke. Wakefield blends a rootsy bluegrass-and-Americana rasp. James wraps it with a blue-eyed soul quality and deft blues guitar chops. The self-titled debut EP from the group was recorded at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville and released this fall. It was co-produced by Texas Hill and Ben Fowler (except “Darkest Sky,” which was co-produced by Ben Fowler and Scott Gerow).
“Easy on the Eyes” from that EP came from Wakefield, who had started writing the song with Morgan Myles. The band finished it together as a group. The song offers tight harmonies, a killer groove, and a rollercoaster melody.
The band shot the video for this song as a live one-take in a hallway of an industrial building, and dropped the mic cable through an emergency light on the ceiling. See the world premiere of that video from Texas Hill here, and then catch the follow-up DittyTV Debut on The Curve Wednesday night, Nov. 18, at 11/10c.
